Technique Tuesday — Knees into Chest
Sore back? Stressed out? Whether your body woes come from overdoing it on the track, or sitting long hours at your desk, simple stretches can help you to ease stiff muscles and calm a frazzled mind. The best part? It doesn’t have to be fancy, or take an entire hour. Some of the most powerful poses are the most simple — and easy. So, especially to all of you who say you're "too inflexible" (or you don't have enough time) to do yoga, there's no excuse to to hit up this move...
Try it: Knees into Chest
You’ve probably done this pose before, not even realizing that you’re doing yoga. This gem will gently stretch your hips, hamstrings, and low back. It helps quiet the mind and can also aid an upset stomach.
- Lie on your back.
- Hug your knees in to your chest.
- Relax your shoulders into the floor and drop the weight of your head.
- Hold for 10 deep breaths.
- Yep, that's it.
- BONUS: Get a pal to gently push your legs toward your torso while you drop your arms to the floor.
