Use Yoga Every Day — For Mental Focus Training
Use yoga every day. On paper, this week should be the *easiest* week. You only need 5 minutes (one day asks for 10). You can do it anywhere. You don’t need any props. You can even lay down... But for many athletes, using meditation daily could be the most challenging week yet.
Meditation is mental focus training. It helps us relax and recharge so that we can feel and perform our best in everything we do. It helps you deliberately rest after a sweat session or hard day, allowing you to make the most of your recovery time — and get ready for what’s coming next.
We are so climatized to working out, going hard, problem solving, planning, executing… that it can be uncomfortable to slow the race of thoughts, let alone quiet it. When your workout gets hard you keep putting more effort in because you’re used to it — you practice all the time. You can apply the same determination to recovery and keep putting in more ease even when it feels hard. But you have to practice.
