Athletes for Yoga Pro Tip: Palms Up
Want to Reset your upper body? Turn your palms up when you lie down.
So simple, so effective, yet most people turn their palms toward the floor when they lie down. Whether you realize it or not, this mirrors common postural imbalance — due to our workouts and the amount of time we spend sitting, our chest becomes stiff and internally rotates (turns in) our upper arm bones, turning our palms to face back, not to mention is a major contributor to hunching forward. So, when we move our arms in the other direction by externally rotating (turning out) our upper arms bones, it helps to re-open the chest and move the shoulder blades back down into their home, rather than rounding forward.
